Useful information
The "Applied Informatics" course is a basic discipline. It includes 16 academic hours of lectures and 34 academic hours of labs. The contents of the discipline cover a range of issues, which are related to the basics of digital systems, logical elements, the fundamentals of programmable logic devices design, considering main details from different abstraction levels.
The program of this discipline includes such type of control as discussions, oral interviews, tests, essay and presentation, individual home tasks, and, finally, an exam.

The subjects gives main details about:
- numeral systems
- logic elements and logic basis
- signals and slots
- programmable logic
- synthesis of logical primitives from high-level code
- basic principles of programming using VHDL (Verilog)
- field programmable gate array (FPGA)
- basic principles of designing modern electronic devices
- hierarchy structure of programmable logic
The end result after the end of the course:
- The understanding of hierarchy structure of programmable logic and principles of programming with VHDL (Verilog); principles of programming with QT;
- Knowledge about numeral systems, type conversions, synthesis of logical primitives from high-level code;
- Skills in program development with graphical user interface using QT, modeling of digital schemes using Modelsim; understanding of compilation steps and configuration of FPGA using Quartus II;
- Practical skills of programming FPGA and high-level programming using С++;
- Experience in connection processes between FPGA and PC; processing and visualization of all data received from FPGA.

- Basics of programmable logic. VHDL (Verilog);
- Programming with QT;
- Processing data from FPGA on a PC in real time.
